Meningitis UK Staff
Senior Management Team
Steve Dayman
Chief Executive
Steve first got involved with the meningitis cause over 24 years ago, after losing his 14-month-old son Spencer to meningitis and meningococcal septicaemia in 1982. His hope has always been to find a vaccine to prevent other families having to go through the heartache he and his family endured. Steve was instrumental in setting up the Meningitis Trust in 1986 and the Meningitis Research Foundation in 1989.
As Chief Executive of Meningitis UK, Steve is responsible for the overall management of the charity and works closely with the Trustees on governance. Steve plays a key part in promoting the organisation and is the main spokesperson for the charity, and represents Meningitis UK at various events.
Steve visits families all over the country who have experienced the devastation of the disease, explaining about the disease and Meningitis UK's work, and has encouraged hundreds of families who have lost a loved one to this horrific disease to fundraise for the cause.
Steve said "Most families who have experienced the devastation of meningitis and meningococcal septicaemia find it very comforting and helpful to do something positive. If we all do what we can, together we will make a difference".
