Football legend and Patron of Meningitis UK Denis Law joins Meningitis UK’s Chief Executive Steve Dayman for the presentation of a cheque for £3,834 raised by Rowlands Solicitors

A team of 32 brave employees from Rowlands Solicitors ran the Great Manchester Run - in the rain, in May earlier this year and raised a massive £3,834 for their adopted charity of the year, Meningitis UK.

The cheque was presented to Meningitis UK's Chief Executive Steve Dayman and football legend Denis Law, who is patron of the charity and attended the presentation to show his ongoing support for the charity's search for a vaccine.

Ronald Taylor, Managing Partner of Rowlands Solicitors in Manchester explains why the company adopted Meningitis UK as their charity of the year, ‘meningitis affects over 2,300 people in the UK every year and causes so much heartache and devastation. When we were deciding on which charity we wanted to support we really felt that Meningitis UK's focus to find a vaccine to eradicate all forms of meningitis was an extremely worthwhile cause.'

Steve Dayman Chief Executive of Meningitis UK says, ‘we are so grateful to everyone at Rowlands Solicitors for their fantastic support. Sadly although successful vaccines exist to protect against some forms of meningitis, there is still no vaccine to protect against all strains of the disease, including the most common - Meningitis B. We are confident that through dogged persistent research and with the support of firms like Rowlands Solicitors and the general public, new vaccines can be developed.'
