Meningitis UK's Press Statement in response to the recent research conducted by Imperial College London, which has found that meningitis has a damaging effect on academic achievement.
Meningitis UK's Chief Executive, Steve Dayman said "Sadly, meningitis can cause devastating long-term after-effects. These stated findings further suggest the damage the disease can cause and emphasise how imperative it is to find a vaccine to protect against all forms of meningitis to prevent the heartache and suffering it can cause."
